The King of Turf Grass
Botanical Name: Zoysia Matrella
Full Sun to 80% Shade
5mm – 25 mm
Shadetuff Zoysia has lush dense dark green foliage that can handle full sun to heavily dappled tree shade, making it an ideal choice for a premium home lawn or feature garden. Requiring as little as 4 hours of full sun a day, this lawn is slow growing and requires less maintenance than other turf varieties on the market.
Shadetuff Zoysia is a versatile turf variety that can be mowed short to achieve an enviable “Bowling Green” appearance or left un-mown to produce a fine leafed feature garden that is ascetically appealing.
This variety is also suitable for erosion prone areas such as steep embankments and drains as it can stabilize soils and its slow growing characteristics lend itself to minimal mowing maintenance.
With outstanding colour year-round, installing a prestige low maintenance Shadetuff Zoysia lawn will be sure to leave your neighbours green with envy.
Nara Native Zoysia
Australia’s Most Beautiful Lawn!
Botanical Name: Zoysia macrantha
Full Sun to 50% Shade
20mm - 50mm - Full Sun
50mm - 70mm - Shade
Nara™ Native Zoysia is native to Australia and is admired for its beauty. It is a great all-purpose turf that can handle many conditions. It is the only general purpose native turf in the marketplace and is the perfect compliment for any native garden or landscape.
Nara™ Native Zoysia provides a lawn grass that has excellent winter colour, and can out compete weeds when established. This turf generally requires less watering and less mowing than most other turf varieties available.
Benefits of Nara™ Native Zoysia:
1. Very Low Maintenance Turf
Less mowing. Based on careful research and close observations, Nara™ Native Zoysia will need about 20% less mowing than Buffalo and 35% less mowing than Couch.
Less Fertilising. Nara™ Native Zoysia requires only one fertilise per year. If the turfed area is subject to a lot of wear twice a year fertilising is recommended.
2. Drought Tolerant And Needs Less Water
Less need to worry about future water restrictions. As Nara™ Native Zoysia has vigorous deep rhizomes, it is far more drought tolerant than non rhizome grasses such as Buffalo. Nara™ Native Zoysia goes dormant in severe drought to survive.
3. Beautiful Fine Texture
Nara™ Native Zoysia is a beautiful turf. It is a fine textured lawn and scalps less than Couch when mown. People choose it over Couch and Buffalo on looks alone.
4. Salt Tolerant Turf
Nara™ Native Zoysia is a low maintenance grass that is naturally very salt tolerant. It is generally a coastal grass but has been proven to work well many hundreds of kilometres inland too. Growing close to the beach or on waterfront properties is not a problem for this turf.
5. Rarely Gets Disease Or Pests
Nara™ Native Zoysia rarely gets disease and copes very well with humid and dry climates. This turf seems to be far more resistant to black beetle, army worm, and web worm than Couch and Buffalo.
6. Great At Outcompeting Weeds
Nara™ Native Zoysia is very good at competing with weeds. You can also apply any chemicals to it that work safely with Couch.
7. Tolerates More Shade Than Couch
Nara™ Native Zoysia works in 30-50% shade. This turf is recommended for up to 50% shade in areas with low wear and up to 30% shade in areas with moderate to high wear.
8. Better Wear Tolerance
Nara™ Native Zoysia has better wear tolerance than Buffalo and Couch in full sun, although Couch recovers better from wear as that turf variety grows faster.
9. Erosion Control
Nara™ Native Zoysia was found to have excellent erosion control performance, strengthening the soil 58%, which was 54.8% more than Couch. Nara™ Native Zoysia took the soil strength in the test to an estimated 105kPa.

Sapphire Soft Leaf Buffalo
Sapphire is the #1 Soft Leaf Buffalo Grass in shade!
Scientific name: Stenotaphrum secundatum 'B12'
Full Sun or Part Shade
35mm - 45mm - Full Sun
50mm - 60mm - Shade
Sapphire Soft Leaf Buffalo is a certified grass inspected and sold under a rigorous set of guidelines to ensure the utmost purity and quality. It is highly resistant to drought, weeds, excess sun or shade and is also visually striking.
Sapphire Soft Leaf Buffalo has a tight mat that leaves very little room for weeds to grow and allows the plant to eradicate weeds completely. The tight mat and deep root system also make the variety effectively drought resistant.
The leaves on mature Sapphire Soft Leaf Buffalo plants tend to fold back giving the plant a much finer appearance and softer feel than other buffalo grasses. At the same time, the variety’s rapid growth across the ground allows it to cope well in high traffic situations ensuring it is always soft underfoot.
Sapphire Soft Leaf Buffalo is the answer for those landscapes that have both shady and sunny areas. It thrives in direct sunlight as well as tolerating up to 60% shade.
Sapphire Soft Leaf Buffalo has proven itself in salty conditions at both Brisk Bay (Bowen) and Hamilton Island. Like all buffalo varieties Sapphire Soft Leaf Buffalo looks best when fertilised.
Why choose Sapphire Soft Leaf Buffalo over other Buffalo varieties?
- Excellent Shade Tolerance - Sapphire is the number one Buffalo in shade. This has been based on averages gathered from the Horticultural Australia Limited (HAL) and Department of Primary Industries (DPI) trial data. Sapphire is recommended for up to 70% shade in areas with low wear and up to 50% shade in areas with moderate to high wear.
- Low Allergenic - In data from the HAL and DPI research, sourced from a site located at Richmond, NSW, Sapphire had on average far less seed head over a 12 month monitoring period compared to the average of other Buffalos. In fact, after summarising the research data it was found that Sapphire had a 39% lower seed head score compared to the averages of other Buffalos.

Variety Review - http://www.softleafbuffalograss.com.au/sapphire.php
20mm – 25mm
Our Couch was developed at Hamilton Plains Turf farm using stolons growing natively in the Whitsundays. Couch is a vigorous grass that is a very hard wearing fine leafed couch that tolerates heat and is drought resistant.
Couch is ideally suited for schools, roadsides and building display homes. Couch flourishes in sunny areas and warm conditions but does not thrive in shade. All fine leafed couches have a tendency to thatch and therefore must be mown short to look at their best.
As our Hamilton Plains Turf couch variety has been grown locally, it is well suited to the tropical climate conditions experienced on the East Coast of Central and Northern Queensland, ensuring it is a favourite product with our clientele.
